Small press pop quiz - Galley Beggar Press

What makes Galley Beggar Press different to other publishers?
We don't believe in marketing men, we believe in readers. If a book is very good we think there will be a market for it. We don't want to fit into any categories - we just want to release the best. We have cool covers too.

What kind of manuscripts are you looking for?
Funny, brilliant, provocative, beautiful manuscripts. We want to fall in love with our books.

If someone was to read two books on your list, what should they be?
Can I have three - we've only got three paper books so far! A Girl Is A Half-formed Thing, Everlasting Lane, A White Goddess: An Encounter.

What are you excited about for 2014?
We've got a great book on the way called Randall by Jonathan Gibbs. It's going to turn the art world on it's head - and kick it while it's still upside down. It's funny, angry, and also humane and loving. And superbly written.

We're also launching a subscription service for our regular short story ebook releases, which should be a great new way of getting money into the pockets of our writers.
