About me

Rowena Wiseman grew up in Melbourne. Her education came mostly from reading Dolly magazine and J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, listening to Pulp’s Common People and spending a year as an exchange student in Latvia. These days, she works in the visual arts sector and lives on the Mornington Peninsula.

Rowena Wiseman writes contemporary fiction, young adult, micro fiction and poetry. She is the author of The Replacement Wife (HarperCollins ebook, 2015), Bequest (Tenebris Books, 2014) and Searching for Von Honningsbergs (longlisted for the 2007 Australian Vogel Award). Her poetry is published in Quadrant magazine, her short piece The Lolita Express was performed in the 2020 Voices of Women podcast series.

Rowena’s blog .outofprint, about writing and publishing in the digital revolution, has been archived by the National Library of Australia since 2012.

Former Committee member of Melbourne Centre of International PEN, editor of Melbourne PEN quarterly newsletter 2004-2007. Co-edited International PEN Women Writers annual newsletter 2004-2006.

She's a featured Wattpad author and her YA novel Silver has had over 700,000 reads on Wattpad.
